Every fall, Triangle farmers open their farms to visitors during the Eastern Triangle Farm Tour (not to be confused with the Piedmont Farm Tour, which occurs in April). Visitors can learn about sustainable agriculture and local food production, visit cheese-makers, see farm animals, and enjoy the beauty of Triangle farms. They can meet the people who grow their food and see how it is grown.
The tour is co-sponsored by the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) and, since 2017, Weaver Street Market.
How to Take the Eastern Triangle Farm Tour
The tour is in September. Details and a brochure with maps to the farms will be available about a month before the event:
- On our events calendar (click on the Eastern Triangle Farm Tour event, in September), http://www.weaverstreetmarket.coop/events/
- At the CFSA website, https://www.carolinafarmstewards.org/etft/
Farm Tour participants buy a button that enables a carload (or a group of bicyclists) to visit all the farms. A button costs $35 or $30 in advance. Buttons are available about a month before the event:
- At Weaver Street Market stores
- Online from CFSA
- During the tour at any farm
On the Eastern Triangle Farm Tour, farms are open from 1 to 5 PM each day. The tour is self-guided; use the tour brochure or the CFSA’s interactive map to plan your visits and maximize your time at the farms. We suggest visiting 2 to 4 each day. The tour occurs RAIN OR SHINE.
CFSA recruits volunteers to help check in visitors at the farms. Volunteers receive a free farm tour tee and a button to tour farms on the day they are not working. Volunteers make it possible! Sign up to volunteer on CFSA’s website.
We’ve collected stories and videos about farms on the tour, past and present. Check the brochure for this year’s farms.
