Weaver Street Market Opens in Hillsborough! - continued
The new store will be a full service grocery store with fresh meat, seafood, and poultry in addition to packaged dry goods, fresh produce, dairy and our extensive wine and beer selection - many products are sourced from area farms and producers in keeping with our product policy that drives us toward purchasing local and organic products.

Shoppers with allergies will find alternative products made with allergen-free ingredients such as lactose-free milk and wheat-free cookies. We will offer hot food for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a large assortment of cold salads and ready to go meals made in our new commissary, located in west Hillsborough. The commissary will also house our famous bread and pastry bakery.

The Food House is a fabulous facility. Two old warehouses in the Hillsborough Business Center have been transformed into energy-efficient, open workspaces with large windows and skylights surrounding an outdoor courtyard. We're very excited about this new facility and our ability to add new locally-produced deli, bakery and meat products, as well as increase our capability to buy directly from small producers and farmers.

There will be a limited menu of kitchen and bakery prepared items in all of Weaver Street Market's grocery stores for the next week while our bakery and kitchen staff transfers to their new digs at the Food House. We'll be back up to full production quickly, and begin introducing new products very soon!

WSM Board meeting

Corner Building (Community Realty/WCOM)

On the agenda will be reports from the General Manager on Budgeting and Planning, Emergency Management Succession, and Treatment of Consumers. Also up for discussion: a review of our Board Policy 4-3: Public Communication of Directors. What should be the ground rules when a Director makes a public statement on WSM board-related issues?

Owners of Weaver Street Market are always welcome to attend meetings of the Board, and are also welcome to make their thoughts known on these and other issues in the open session at the beginning of the meeting.

Community Investment Initiative
Have you considered investing in Weaver Street Market?
The expansion of our Southern Village store is nearly complete, the new store and commissary in Hillsborough are on track to open this week, and we're beginning a suite of improvements to the Carrboro store. Weaver Street Market celebrates out 20th anniversary this month, and we're sure working hard to make the next 20 better every day, but to keep everything moving along we need several more community members to make 5-year loans of $10,000 or more.

We've nearly reached our member investment goal for this phase of the expansion project, but still need a few more members of the Co-op to make this additional investment; please contact us soon if you would like to receive more information about the Community Investment program, including the complete Offering Memorandum.

Why should you loan money to Weaver Street Market?
• Your investment stays with a local business you know and trust; where three times as much money filters back into the community as in a corporate-owned business.
• Your investment benefits your Co-op, and supports our initiatives that include paying a living wage, and our long-time support of local agriculture.
• Help us expand our Southern Village store, open a new store in Hillsborough, and improve our Carrboro store. More space! New products!
• We'll pay 6% simple interest annually, and repay the principal after 5 years.

Landscapes and other subjects
Oil paintings by Carroll Lassiter
Now through August 3, 2008
If you visited Panzanella during the last exhibit, you will certainly have noticed Carroll Lassiter's beautiful oil painting, "Parrish Field". The works selected for her solo exhibit include more glorious landscapes - immediately recognizable as Carroll's - and still life subjects, all handled with her characteristic fascination, meticulousness, and outstanding skill with oils.
