Organic Wines! Thanksgiving is one of the more traditional holidays that we celebrate. Roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce... Traditional? Yes. Boring? No. If you create the same meal each year, or for those of you who buck tradition like this vegaquarian here, we've got delicious wines to pair up to this tasty feast. However repetitive this meal may seem, since it only happens once a year, we still get excited over it time after time. We spend countless hours planning, cooking and talking on the phone with every possible family member before the big day even gets here. We over indulge in all the delicious salty-sweet-buttery-tangy flavors the meal has to offer, then we take naps and go back in the kitchen for leftovers before the day is even over! More |

This holiday IS one of my favorites, and no, it's not because I eat turkey, and NO, I don't like football. It's a favorite of mine because of all the people that I like get together and cook, and we hang around together for hours. The idea is to actually NOT rush through the day; the cooking gets started before the sun comes up and inevitably we all hang out, eat, talk, eat, drink, laugh and eat some more well into the evening. That's the kind of day that I can really sink my teeth into. This Thanksgiving Weaver Street Market proudly brings you the wines of La Fortuna. In the heart of Chile's Curicó Valley is La Fortuna Vineyards. This now family-owned and operated estate has been a working farm and vineyard since 1870. In the early 40s to the early 50s Modesto Guell and his family purchased the property and built a vast Bodega (or winery) to begin bottling their own wines. And out of this project, the La Fortuna winery was born. Now the property is run by Daniel Guell, son of Modesto, and in the last eleven years he has turned this estate into one of the major producers of certified organic wines in Chile. In February of this year, I had the pleasure of visiting this estate and meeting Daniel, his family and the winemaker. I was part of a handful of importers and retailers visiting the area and we were welcomed with open arms, glasses full of wine and a table full of locally grown food from their own gardens. It was the first visit of our 10 day journey through Argentina and Chile, and I have to say it ruined us for the rest of the trip. From the lush vineyards to the passionate winemaker, to Daniel and his family, we experienced La Fortuna for what it is; a true family farm. So, this Thanksgiving when you're deciding what wine to serve YOUR family during this big feast, why not try one of these handcrafted, ORGANICALLY PRODUCED wines from family owned and operated La Fortuna Vineyards? La fortuna wines made using ORGANICALLY grown GRAPES: 2007 Pinot Noir, 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, 2006 Chardonnay, 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. Don't forget to place your Thanksgiving order! |

| RSVVP Tuesday |
RSVVP Day
Tuesday, November 11Triangle Restaurants will donate 10% of their proceeds that day to help fight hunger in our community. Weaver Street Market has been a participant in RSVVP since its inception twenty years ago when restaurants, newspapers, TV, and radio came together to help the emergency food providers of North Carolina. RSVVP is a play on the acronym RSVP, where the VV stands for 10 (V is 5 in the Roman numeral system). Restaurants donate 10% of their gross proceeds and the media donate advertising time to get the word out. As Weaver Street Market has expanded over the years, so has our commitment to RSVVP. Weaver Street Market in Southern Village, in Hillsborough and Panzanella are also contributors to RSVVP. Our contribution goes directly to the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service. The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service is an amazing organization that started way back in the sixties before there were many government organizations helping people who needed food, shelter, and social services. Their list of services includes the Community Kitchen that serves around 80,000 meals a year, the Community House and HomeStart that provide beds and social service counseling for the homeless, Health Clinics, Hispanic Outreach, and more. Please join Weaver Street Market and Panzanella in supporting such a great local organization by eating out on Tuesday, November 11! |

| New Art in Hillsborough |
Weaver Street Market in Hillsborough presentsacrylic paintings by Jenifer Crowell October 27, 2008 - January 4, 2009 About the Artist: A self-taught artist, Jenifer Crowell began her journey into painting in the early nineties, after leaving a family business in 3D advertising. As a child, the fun "pop-ups" delighted her, but without the desire to be a salesperson, she chose instead to make a life in theatre and clowning, and also began to explore painting. Jenifer works with acrylics, watercolors, gouache and mixed media. Her goal as a painter is to capture the essence of people, nature or feeling in a single moment, and to invite the viewer to feel and imagine as well. As the silent clown, SkyBlue, she regularly performs for Duke Children's Hospital, and for special events. Her acting work includes performances in many plays in the Triangle area and New England, and with Murder Mystery Troupes in Durham and Beaufort, as well as work in film and TV. Take a regional Mystery Tour or Ghost Walk, and you can see Jenifer as the notorious pirate, Jump'in Jen. For more information or to purchase work in this exhibit, please contact Jenifer Crowell by email or at (910)470-3020. |

| Vote Today |
If you didn't vote early, today is the day!Polls are open until 7:30 PM. Not sure where you vote? Click here link to look it up. Got other questions about voting? Check out this non-partisan site. Be Sure to Vote the Entire Ballot -- From Top to Bottom! North Carolina's ballot has 4 sections and you can vote in all of them: 1. The Presidential election. 2. Partisan races, from Governor to local. 3. Non-partisan elections, including judges. 4. Local bonds or issues (in some counties only; most NC counties are not voting on referendums this year.) If you want to vote a "Straight Party" ballot (all the candidates of one party), remember that marking Straight Party does NOT include voting in the presidential race or the judicial and non-partisan races. Remember to vote in those races separately. If you vote by paper ballot in your county, turn the ballot over since it has items on both sides! |

Recycle Cardboard at Your Curb!Corrugated cardboard may now be recycled at the curb! Corrugated cardboard is the kind with three layers, with a wavy inner layer, commonly used for large boxes. It's NOT the kind of cardboard used in cereal boxes. Beginning November 3, Orange County began picking up corrugated cardboard with other recyclables. Boxes must be flattened, with pieces no larger than three feet on a side. There is a ten-piece maximum per collection. Please place cardboard in a recycling bin, between two bins, or underneath. Larger pieces or larger loads can be taken to a recycling drop-off site or convenience center. For really big loads, such as following a move-in, use the recycling facility at the landfill and place cardboard directly into the compactor there to avoid overfilling dumpsters at drop-off sites. The County-owned landfill will be full in less than three years; every effort we make to keep it open longer by recycling keeps our local economy stronger by not spending garbage dollars, but instead turning them into recycling income. And, as always, recycling saves trees, water and energy! |
