Spanish Wine & Food Tasting! at Panzanella November 17, 2008 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm Join us for a tasting tour of the tradition and passion of Spain's wonderful wine regions. Spain has the most land under vine in the world and yet is only third in production. Its arid climate and often drought conditions are the cause of extremely low average yields. From the cool Atlantic region of Galicia to the warmer mediterranean climate in the south, Spain's wine producing areas are extremely diverse, offering deep rich, alcoholic reds to light minerally whites to its famous fortified wine, sherry. Spain has much to offer wine lovers and novices alike. We welcome Kerry Smith, certified wine educator from the Society of Wine educators and Tryon Distributors. Join us Monday, November 17 for a tasting tour of this intriguing wine-producing country. Plenty of delicious food will be prepared by Panzanella Restaurant's kitchen. The cost of this event is $45 per person. Space is limited, so reserve early. Please pay in advance and pick up a ticket for this event at either Panzanella or the customer service desk at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro. PANZANELLA WINE & FOOD TASTING EVENT INFORMATION Our wine & food tasting events are from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Please arrive at 7pm. Our tastings are set up family style, meaning we have several tables set up to seat 8 to 10 people. There is no reserved seating unless you are with a party of 6 or more, and then you'll need to let us know in advance. Family-style also refers to food service; all food is brought out in large platters that are passed around, each portion is a tasting portion, or small plate size. There are six courses served, one is usually a dessert course and there is wine served at each one. Wine servings are 1 1/2 oz with each course. We have a guest speaker at every event that educates and guides the tasting from start to finish. We try to accommodate dietary restrictions, but advance notice is needed. Please inform the person you are buying the ticket from, or email Panzanella, and inform them of your restrictions or allergies. If you need to cancel, please do so with 24 hours notice. |

Place your special order by Monday, November 24 at 9:00 pm! Whether it's wow, yikes, hooray or OMG, the holidays are coming! Weaver Street Market has an amazing array of goodies to make your Thanksgiving table a delight to family and friends and easy for you. You may choose to purchase a fresh, all-natural turkey or duck to roast at home or a delicious boneless, smoked all-natural ham. For those shoppers seeking a little help in cooking their Thanksgiving turkey at home, we are offering turkey-roasting kits. These kits include cheese cloth, a basting marinade, and instructions. The kit sells for $5.99 and provides everything that you need to get a turkey into your pan and into your oven. (We also have aluminum turkey pans for sale if you need one of those.) For those shoppers seeking the convenience of an already-cooked Thanksgiving Turkey, we are offering pre-roasted turkeys from Plainville Farms. These are the same Thanksgiving turkeys that we are selling in our meat department—antibiotic free, no animal byproducts and all natural ingredients. They are roasted for us by Plainville Farms, quick-chilled, and packed in plastic bags. We tasted one in early October and our tasters thought it was a delicious turkey. The Plainville Farms pre-roasted Turkeys can be bought individually at $3.49 per pound or as part of a complete Thanksgiving meal with fresh sides, trimmings, and rolls from our kitchen and bakery. As always we have a spectacular selection of sides, pies, and tarts to round out your dinner or party plans. Place your order early to ensure your special day. |

| RSVVP Today! |
RSVVP Day
Today, November 11Triangle Restaurants will donate 10% of their proceeds today to help fight hunger in our community. Weaver Street Market has been a participant in RSVVP since its inception twenty years ago when restaurants, newspapers, TV, and radio came together to help the emergency food providers of North Carolina. RSVVP is a play on the acronym RSVP, where the VV stands for 10 (V is 5 in the Roman numeral system). Restaurants donate 10% of their gross proceeds and the media donate advertising time to get the word out. As Weaver Street Market has expanded over the years, so has our commitment to RSVVP. Weaver Street Market in Southern Village, in Hillsborough and Panzanella are also contributors to RSVVP. Our contribution goes directly to the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service. The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service is an amazing organization that started way back in the sixties before there were many government organizations helping people who needed food, shelter, and social services. Their list of services includes the Community Kitchen that serves around 80,000 meals a year, the Community House and HomeStart that provide beds and social service counseling for the homeless, Health Clinics, Hispanic Outreach, and more. Please join Weaver Street Market and Panzanella in supporting such a great local organization by eating out on Tuesday, November 11! |

Curb Junk Mail!Tired of weeding through the junk mail and catalogs to find that letter from your mom? Even though Americans throw away 44% of junk mail unopened, the average American still spends 8 months of his or her life dealing with junk mail. If offers for credit cards and better car insurance bring you down, check out these websites that offer ways to reduce your junk mail. The site New American Dream will get you started. One option is the $41 services of 41 pounds, who promises to remove you from up to 95% of the junk mail lists by contacting each organization from which you receive mail and/or catalogs. (They also donate about 50% of their fee to the New American Dream junk mail campaign!) You can also sign a petition asking congress for a "Do Not Mail" registry similar to the recently passed "Do Not Call" registry for telemarketing. |
