| Alternative Milks for your Cereal - on sale in June! | |||
It's the perfect time of year for a bowl of cereal covered with fresh, local blueberries. If soaking your cereal with cow milk is not an option, you're in luck: alternative milks are on sale in June!Once upon a time, the only alternative to cow milk was soymilk, but these days there's so much more: nut milk, rice milk, oat milk, and hemp milk, with options like original, unsweetened, enriched, vanilla or chocolate. The perfect milk for you is out there! If soymilk is too sweet, try Westsoy Organic Unsweetened Soymilk. If you're concerned about calcium, try an enriched milk like Rice Dream Enriched Rice Milk, with vitamins and minerals added to resemble the nutrients found in cow milk. And if flavor is key, you may like one of these: nut milks like almond or hazelnut (which taste... nutty!), oat milk (which tastes... oat-y!), and hemp milk (whose taste defies description). For cereal eaters, oat milk is a logical choice, since so many cereals contain oats, anyway. The June CAP sale features hemp milk, almond milk, hazelnut milk, and oat milk, so it's a great time to try something new! While some alternative milks live in the dairy case, most (including this month's sale items) are sold unrefrigerated in the grocery aisle. Try one today! On sale in June: Living Harvest Tempt Hempmilk, 32 oz, 2/$5.00 Pacific Natural Foods Organic Almond Beverage (unsweetened), 32 oz, $2.29 Pacific Natural Foods Naturally Almond Beverage, 32 oz, $2.29 Pacific Natural Foods Naturally Hazelnut Beverage, 32 oz, $2.29 Pacific Natural Foods Naturally Oat Beverage, 32 oz, $2.29 Also: Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal, 12.4-13.4 oz, $2.99 Nature's Path Organic Optimum Cereal, 10.6-14 oz, $2.99 Arrowhead Mills Organic Cereal, 12 oz, $2.99 As well as: Local organic blueberries, $3.99/pint |
