| Hey, Get on the Bus! I can't express the joy I felt when I first visited a North Carolina Winery. Seeing rows and rows of grape vines, full of their spring leaves and their first buds, made me giddy like a school girl. What did this winery have in store? I was more than excited to find out! I am here to tell you that North Carolina wineries have come a long way... for starters, there are almost double the number of wineries today than there were five years ago. Production is up and so is quality. The more people making wine in this area, means there are more resources for grape growers and winemakers than ever before, which, of course, equals better wine. There is no better venue for tasting wine than the actual land the grapes were
grown on. Always wonder why that Chianti tasted so good IN Chianti? I'm telling
you it's all in your surroundings. Hearing a winemaker talk about how difficult,
or outstanding a particular vintage was, or what inspired them to plant, and
produce a particular grape makes tasting that wine all the more enjoyable. So,
now's your chance. For one day this month WSM is organizing its first ever
North Carolina Wine Tour! Join us, Friday, August 26, 2005 on a chartered bus,
and enjoy a day packed with winery tours, beautiful vistas, great people and
best of all great North Carolina wines. I have picked each winery, and will personally guide you through our daylong tour.

After Hours has grown to be one of the "best of the best" nights in Carrboro. It's old-fashioned fun with free music by local bands and the chance to relax on a blanket and picnic with your family on fresh grilled food by local charities. Kids of all ages can dance the night away or catch-up with friends.Weaver Street Market loves to see people enjoying our lawn and connecting with their community. To keep this event a safe and fun place, we ask that you only bring friendly, well-behaved dogs on leashes and please clean up after them. We want the children who attend our event to have a safe and happy time too, so we ask that they not be allowed to climb the trees or the Crepe Myrtles. Lastly, please enjoy the fountain from its perimeter. Thank you for your help in making this event safe and fun for everyone. Planned Parenthood Cooking at After Hours this Week Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina has been providing health care services in our area since 1983. PPCNC provides educational, clinical, and advocacy services to reduce unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, especially among teens, people with limited incomes, and the uninsured. Weaver Street Market, Plum Spring Clinic, StudiO2, and Southern Village Center are pleased to co-sponsor:Free Summer T'ai Chi Classes taught by Alavaro de le Iglesia. Saturday Mornings at 7:30am starting June 4, on the green across from the Lumina. T'ai Chi, a 2000 year old martial art, is a sequence of choreographed movement that releases the energy known as Chi and moves it through the body to allow healing effects. The many benefits of T'ai Chi include development of coordination and balance, regulation of blood pressure, strengthening of joints, and improved mental focus and calm. For more information, please contact the Plum Spring Clinic at 945-0300. Alvaro de la Iglesia, aka Al, has been involved in athletics and martial arts for 17 years. The last 10 years he has dedicated to Hatha Yoga and Tai Chi Chuan. His study of yoga included an internship in the TriYoga Teachers Training Program under the instruction of Joy Anandi. Teaching was a natural progression for him, and helping people to improve their health is very rewarding for him. Al currently also teaches at the Duke University Faculty Club. |

Join us on a chartered bus to enjoy a day packed with winery tours, beautiful vistas, great people and, best of all - great North Carolina wines! Peg Conway, Weaver Street's Wine Buyer has hand-picked each winery, and will personally guide you through our daylong tour.
Wineries to visit: 1. Raffaldini Vineyards, Ronda, NC 2. Stony Knoll Vineyards, Dobson, NC 3. RagApple Lassie Vineyards, Boonville, NC 4. Hanover Park Vineyard, Yadkinville, NC Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $75 per person and include the following: chartered bus, breakfast, lunch, heavy snacks, all winery tasting fees and souvenir tasting glasses. Check in time at WSM is 6:30am. Departure is 7:00am sharp. Approximate return 7:30pm. Full itinerary is available at time of ticket purchase. Tickets available August 2 at the Customer Service Desk in our Carrboro store. |

| 2nd Friday Art Walk After Party |
Friday August 12 Art Walk and Art Walk After Party - The next 2nd Friday Art Walk will be The Hot Spot to be for art, taking place in Carrboro and Chapel Hill on Friday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Many of the galleries will have live music and other art related entertainment. Admission is free in all cases. Refreshments are served at each location. Then join us for the After Art Walk Party from 9:00-11:00 pm at Panzanella Restarurant in Carrboro for food, drinks, and fun.
New artwork in Panzanella - now through September 18, you can see the work of our own Erik Neimi. Erik received his MFA in Mixed Media from Carolina. He currently holds the position of Assistant Professor of Art at St. Augustine's College in addition to working a few nights a week at Panzanella. | Two North Carolina Wine Dinners |
Our first dinner will feature the Wines of Hanover Park Vineyard, Yadkinville, NCMonday, August 1, 7pm - 9pm We Welcome Michael and Amy Helton, winemaker and owners. When I first met Michael Helton almost five years ago, his enthusiasm was contagious. Their wines, however, spoke for themselves. Michael and Amy's inspiration came during a month long honeymoon in the south of France in the summer of 1996. Michael and Amy returned home with a love of French wines and the countryside. By December, Hanover Park Vineyard began. Teachers and Artists by trade; they became farmers and winemakers almost overnight. Their passion is inspiring.  When I finally made it to their winery just this spring, I didn't want to leave. Tasting their amazing, French-inspired viniferous delights and listening to Michael and Amy talk about the vineyards, their latest experiments with fruit wine, and port, I was totally hooked. I even considered asking them if they needed a field hand, I was ready to move to Yadkinville and make grape growing my new life! I am so excited to host a wine dinner with Michael, Amy and their wines as the stars. What she found was a state with a thriving wine industry, great people and beautiful vineyards. She's excited to share her experiences with you, through a slide show and tasting tour of some of the best wines North Carolina has to offer. Wineries that will be represented are Westbend, RagApple Lassie, Raylen, Buck Shoals, Stony Knoll, Silkhope and Dennis.
