Recipe: Pumpkin Goat Cheesecake
Ingredients

One baking pumpkin
2.5 Pounds Goat Cheese Curd (You can get this from Celebrity Dairy at the farmers market)
2.5 Cups Sugar
6 Whole Eggs
The Zest and Juice from 2 Lemons and 1 Orange
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of Salt

Alternative to Goat Cheese Curd

1.5 pounds of regular goat cheese (chevre) 8 ounces of mascarpone 8 ounces of cream cheese

1.) Bake your pumpkin either whole or cut in half in a 375 degree oven till soft all the way through. Scrap out seeds (keep) and strings (discard). Scrape out flesh and squeeze out excess water.
2.) Soften the cheese at room temperature.
3.) With a Mixer (or a heavy hand whip and strong arm) whip the pumpkin flesh, cheese and sugar until smooth.
4.) Next, add the eggs, one by one, until thoroughly incorporated. The batter should look smooth, shiny and light. It is important not to over whip, so keep your mixer in second gear
5.) Add the rest of the ingredients last

Put in a spring form pan (the bottom lined with buttered parchment paper) and wrap the out side with saran wrap (or tinfoil) to create a waterproof seal. Place in a water bath and bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes to an hour. When it is finished it will feel delicate but solid.

Serve with fresh whip cream.

Beaujolais Nouveau this Thursday
Thursday, November 17
4:30-6:30 in Carrboro

Beaujolais Nouveau is "new" wine from the region of Beaujolais in France. It is aged only a few weeks before being rushed to wine shops and taverns to be enjoyed. Nouveau wines balance nicely between white wines and red wines.

What is wine all about if not all about having fun? Join us as we uncork the season's first Beaujolais and see what all the excitement is about.

Bayou Rescue Update
Bayou Rescue was one of the groups that Weaver Street Market was able to give a donation to as a result of our Hurricane Katrina fundraising. With those monies Bayou Rescue was able to sponsor a trip from North Carolina to New Orleans and Mississippi. They spent the money on van rental, gas for the trip, rabies and bordetella vaccines, surgical supplies for spay/neuter, water and food for volunteers, washing of pet bedding, transport of animals to shelters, and other miscellaneous supplies.

"We just got back but wanted to say thank you x 1 bagillion googles. We were able to help so many places, and so many animals...with your very generous donation. I'm not exaggerating to say that this wouldn't have happened without you, and there were lots of animals that benefited directly. Some of those animals are now in the triangle! Wow-y'all are way to awesome! Thank you sounds trivial in comparison." Amber Alsobrooks, Bayou Rescue
RSVVP Day
Tuesday November 15, All Day
Eat at Weaver Street Market, or Panzanella on Tuesday November 15 for RSVVP day. Participating restaurants have pledged to donate 10% of gross profits for the day to local shelters and community kitchens to feed the hungry.

This popular annual fund-raiser benefits the Food Bank of North Carolina, the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service, and The Urban Ministries of Durham Community Kitchen. The RSVVP Program began in 1989 with participation by restaurants in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. A year later, when Raleigh and Durham joined the program, it became an annual Triangle-wide event.

Heritage Turkey Dinner
November 16, 5:30-9 pm in Panzanella

Our 3rd Heritage Turkey Dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, the 16th of November, 5:30-9:00 pm. This year, we are receiving the turkeys from Alex and Betsy Hitt of Peregrine Farm in Graham.

If you haven't tasted a heritage bird yet, be prepared; it is the reason Ben Franklin wanted the turkey as our national symbol—rich, flavorful, and full of itself.

This is a benefit dinner, with 10% of the evening's proceeds to be donated to the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy.
Panzanella Holiday Hours
Panzanella will be closed on Thanksgiving, Thursday November 24.

We will be open regular business hours on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday following Thanksgiving.

Won't you join us for dinner? You won't have to wash the dishes.
