French Broad Brewing Company opened its doors in 2001 with a goal of creating “traditional European-style beers while maintaining the unique flavor that is Asheville.” Over a decade later, the brewery is going strong with 93 tap lines in 61 locations around the city!
Under the leadership of President Andrew Dahm and Head Brewer Chris Richards, French Broad Brewing Company offers five year-round beers: the Wee-Heavy-Er Scotch Ale, 13 Rebels ESB, IPA, Gateway Kolsch, and Anvil Porter. (As of November, 2013, we carry the Wee-Heavy-Er, 13 Rebels, nad Gateway Kolsch in cans!) They also make seasonal beers. They operate a tasting room with live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and sell beers throughout the Carolinas, in Athens and Atlanta, Georgia, and as far west as Nashville. They’re proud to be part of the phenomenal beer scene in Asheville, which boasts eleven local breweries.

About their beers:
Anvil Porter — Our Porter is silky smooth, moderately malty, and has wonderful chocolate malt aroma. Light enough to have more than one!
Gateway Kölsch — While known for their lagers, German brewers also produce terrific ales. French Broad’s Kölsch is faithful to the great German ales found in Köln. Golden in color, with a refreshing crispness, pleasantly sweet malt finish, and distinctive German hopping.
IPA — Our IPA features hops (of course!), but has a lot going on in the grain bill as well. You will enjoy it!
13 Rebels ESB — Named for the 13 colonies, our Extra Special Bitter features generous Goldings profile and a complex malt palate.
Wee Heavy-er Scotch Style Ale — 7% ABV wrapped in an attractive package of continental malts and hops. Very tasty beer!
Ryehopper Rye Pale Ale — A distinctive American pale ale with strong rye malt notes, resulting in a dry-on-dry beer spectacular.
