redmond-clay-composite-vertical.jpgClay is a home remedy used since the early 1900’s for various health problems. You might think of using clay in something like a facial mask, but the uses go far beyond that.

Redmond Clay is a completely natural bentonite clay. It comes from a protected deposit in Redmond, Utah. Since the clay contains minerals (including calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, copper, selenium, posphorus, chromium, iodine, and zinc), there are benefits to eating it. It has an alkaline pH (the opposite of an acid) that can neutralize heartburn and upset stomachs. It is also said to rid the body of toxins. People use it in facials to draw out impurities and stimulate circulation; for the same reasons, it can be used as a poultice on bruises, stings, and more. There is even a clay toothpaste!

Redmond Clay lists the following uses. Internal uses include help for occasional diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, stomachache, acid indigestion, acid reflux, and other digestive problems. People include Redmond Clay capsules with their daily supplements, or drink clay water because of its drawing ability, highly alkaline pH, and natural minerals. External uses include applying hydrated Redmond Clay as a poultice on cuts, bruises, insect bites, bee stings, boils, rashes, achy joints, acne, and burns. Remond Clay products include a clay powder, clay tablets, baby powder, clay gel for facials or first aid, and toothpaste. The Redmond Clay company also produces a line of salt products from a deposit in Utah.
