Our pastry bakers are making king cakes until February 13 (Mardi Gras). Order yours today!
The King Cake Tradition
One of the wonderful traditions of Mardi Gras in New Orleans is the king cake. King cakes are decorated in the traditional Mardi Gras colors—purple representing justice, green representing faith, and gold representing power. A small plastic baby is hidden in each cake. The person who finds the baby in their slice enjoys good luck and gets to host the next king cake party.
Our King Cakes
Our king cakes are made with rich brioche dough, with hints of lemon zest and mace, and one of three fillings: (1) almond cream with a touch of orange liqueur, (2) cherry, or (3) cinnamon. They’re topped with fondant and naturally colored sugars (colored with plants and vegetables) in the traditional colors.
We’ll have a limited supply of king cakes in stores through Mardi Gras for $23.99. To be sure of availability, call ahead and ask our bakery counter to hold one for you. For pickup on February 13, please special order a cake by February 10. Each cake serves 10–12.
