We’ve got all sorts of treats in stores to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Our pastry bakers are making all sorts of beautiful and delicious sweets for you and your sweetheart. See a gallery here. We also have gluten-free Valentine pastries from JP’s.
Pick up a box of truffles or toffee made by Gearharts Fine Chocolates in Charlottesville, Virginia. Or try the caramels from Big Picture Farm in southern Vermont. Louisa Conrad and Lucas Farrell run Big Picture Farm and make the caramels by hand from the milk of their herd of free-ranging goats. We also have a variety of other Valentine candies.
Our bread bakers are making their signature heart-shaped baguettes, along with a new version filled with parmesan and black pepper. These will be available only from February 9 to 14.
Local creamery Boxcarr Handmade Cheese has made a special edition of heart-shaped Cottonbell. This cow’s milk, camembert-style cheese appears every winter as the creamery’s goat milk supply wanes. Suggestions for serving Cottonbell are posted on Boxcarr’s blog, here.
We’ll have bunches of local lilies, tulips, and hyacinths from Sarah & Michael’s Farm and Wild Hare Farm, as well as other beautiful bouquets. Fair-trade roses arrive on Thursday (read more). We’ll also have conventional roses and potted plants.
