Now in our stores you can buy Planting Hope, a whimsical story for children by children. Planting Hope tells the tale of a hard-working girl and a golden seed that bring unity to a divided garden. The story represents how local hunger-relief group PORCH has planted a seed that has nourished an entire community.
The book was written and illustrated by a diverse group of kids attending the after-school program at Rogers Road Community Center and an ESL class at Smith Middle School, under the direction of author Susie Wilde and textile artist Peg Gignoux. Some of the kids that participated in the book project are PORCH recipients themselves.
All proceeds from book sales go to PORCH recipients. The book costs $20.
