You might’ve noticed a new kombucha in town: Resistor Brews. A team of seven people brew and bottle the kombucha in the kitchen at Vimala’s Curryblossom Cafe. The leader of the cafe’s newest enterprise is Vimala’s son, Rajeev Rajendran.
Rajeev is a familiar face around our Carrboro store. He worked as a barista about ten years ago, until he left in 2011 to help with the restaurant. These days you’ll see him delivering bottle of kombucha, replacing it as it flies off the shelves. (In fact, after just a few days in our Carrboro store, Resistor’s grapefruit kombucha surpassed GT’s Trilogy in daily sales!)
Rajeev says, “I’m really proud to be a part of the family at WSM. I loved working there and today I’ve come to appreciate the support and mentorship they give to so many other businesses in the community.” We’re looking forward to talking more with Rajeev, but for now we wanted to let you know that Rajeev will be in stores this weekend sampling the grapefruit kombucha. Be sure to stop by and try some!
- Friday February 23, 4 to 7 PM in Hillsborough
- Saturday February 24, 11 AM to 2 PM in Southern Village
- Saturday February 24, 3 to 6 PM in Carrboro
In addition to our stores, you’ll find Resistor Brews kombucha at many local businesses like Open Eye, Acme, and The Pig.
