Our current Round Up! campaign benefits our new Community Food Partner: Orange County Schools (OCS). Through October 31, we’re collecting money to fill backpacks that students will receive during winter and spring breaks, when they don’t have access to school meals. The backpack meals will be distributed to food insecure kids at the four OCS elementary schools with the highest need: Central Elementary, Efland-Cheeks Global Elementary School, New Hope Elementary, and Grady A. Brown Elementary. An estimated 1,100 to 1,200 kids are at risk for food insecurity just at these four schools.
WSM shoppers can round up their bill to the nearest dollar to donate to the campaign. We’ll also host a large-scale community food sort to assemble the first backpack meals, which will be delivered by Wednesday, December 20. Watch for information about the food sort in our e-newsletter, on Facebook, and on Twitter.
And thanks for helping us stop hunger in Orange County!
