The hot spring weather may have you longing for sweet local blueberries and juicy southern peaches. The first NC blueberries of the season are arriving later this week from farms in the southeast part of the state. Peaches however, have had a rough go of it this spring. Late freezes in March damaged much of the early blooms in Georgia and South Carolina’s peach orchards, and destroyed most of the North Carolina crop entirely. But don’t despair, they’ll be arriving sporadically in the coming weeks, and we should see a steady supply of our beloved regional peaches later this summer… and the wait will make them that much sweeter!
