Roberson Street\, Chapel Hill. Start the day with a dedication ceremony for the new Hargraves Historic Marker. Juneteenth is the oldest known commemoration of the abolition of slavery in the United States. A combination of the words “June” and “nineteenth\,” Juneteenth is a U.S. federal holiday observed on June 19.
