June is PRIDE Month! Celebrating PRIDE with our LGBTQIA+ communities is an exciting step on our journey to become a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive co-op. Join the celebration by buying products from LGBTQIA+ producers—look for the PRIDE Flag. Your purchases automatically make a donation to our PRIDE Fund, which benefits our four partner LGBTQIA+ organizations:

QTIPOC Survival Fund
Who We Are:
We are an autonomous mutual aid initiative. None of our organizers are paid for their work. We are recipient-led, meaning the people who receive funds decide through consensus how funds are allocated.
Who We Serve + How:
Our recipients are Queer, Transgender, Indigenous People Of Color (QTIPOC) living in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, or rural North Carolina. All recipients are under/unemployed due to COVID-19, and were fighting to survive systemic racism + queerphobia before the pandemic even hit. Most have never received a stimulus check, and face barriers to accessing safety-net services. So every month, we ask the community for funds on social media + send those funds to our recipients so they can survive. Mostly through Paypal, Venmo, and Cashapp. We figure out other ways when folks don’t have bank accounts. Funds are given with zero strings attached.
What We’ve Done So Far:
We’ve re-distributed over $75,000 to our recipients since the pandemic hit. About $50,000 of that came from our beloved community! The rest came in the form of rapid-response grants + fundraisers from LGBTQ+ focused social justice non-profits.
Our goal is to continue to provide our recipients with at least $400 in survival funds a month, for the foreseeable future. When we are able to provide folks with that kind of substantial support, it helps them avoid being forced into exploitative work + relationships, as well as avoid starvation, exposure, and incarceration. We are helping our recipients stay SAFE during this terrible time, and hope to continue doing so until this pandemic is over.

INSIDEoUT
Founded in 2008 and named during a gathering on the lawn of WSM lawn in Carrboro!
Who we are:
Empowering Authenticity Inside and Out
INSIDEoUT is a youth-led organization that hosts community events for LGBTQ+ youth. We provide resources, opportunities for leadership, and safe, affirming spaces for queer youth. We work to connect Gay-Queer-Straight Alliances with one another to strengthen our community. We elevate and celebrate the voices and knowledge of LGBTQ+ youth from all backgrounds as forces of justice, liberation and the eradication of all systems of oppression.
INSIDEoUT hosts monthly youth hangouts! Hangouts are two hours of youth determined activities that are designed to connect and empower our youth in a queer-positive, non-judgmental space. Agendas for hangouts range from making posters for Pride, practicing self-care, DIY pronoun mask making to hosting guest speakers from the community. Details and upcoming dates/zoom links can be found here. (https://www.insideout180.org/hangouts)
As of now, iNSIDEoUT 180 is completely volunteer supported. The heart, soul, and strategic objectives are all set by and made reality by iNSIDEoUT’s board of youth leaders. The nuts and bolts of fundraising and logistical support are made possible by oUTSIDE iN, our board of adult supporters. If you are a young person hoping to get involved or become part of the iNSIDEoUT 180 board, you can keep an eye on our instagram (@insideout180) for upcoming hangouts, events, and for the release of our board member application.

If you’re an adult trying to support this work, adult support comes in many different shapes and sizes.
