Tempo Brew is a Game Changer, Woman-owned Triangle-based craft cold brew coffee company in Durham, NC. Co-owner Gee Rege has been deeply passionate about coffee her entire adult life. Coffee was an accessible luxury for her. Through the years, she invested in teaching herself more about coffee and the coffee industry.
In 2020, with a burgeoning interest in cold brewed coffee, Gee and her fiancé, co-founder Kevin Murphy, found that they could not buy cold brewed coffee that was on par with what Gee brewed at home. They came to the realization that bottled cold brewed coffee options are typically pasteurized, and that pasteurization compromises the flavor of great coffee.
This realization was the inspiration behind Tempo Brew. Gee and Kevin mindfully craft cold brewed coffee that is uncompromisingly flavorful by keeping it unpasteurized. Instead of flavor-damaging pasteurization, they concentrate their coffees and package them in oxygen-resistant wine pouches that naturally preserve freshness and have 90% less waste and 80% lower carbon footprint than glass. They handcraft small batches of cold brew concentrates using carefully selected, locally roasted coffee beans and spring water. All their flavored cold brew concentrates contain real spices, natural ingredients, and no added sugars or preservatives. Tempo coffee gives you craft quality with the convenience of instant coffee. Tempo Brew has been an environmentally sustainable, community-focused company since their launch. After every production cycle they donate their coffee grounds to a local worm farm, Wawa Worms and their “Fueling Those Who Give Back” program donates coffee and provides free coffee service at appreciation events for volunteers and first responders around the Triangle.
