Weaver Street Market’s newest Co-op to Co-op trade partner has a long track record with Weaver Street Market shoppers. The PPFG (now PPFC) Eggs are an important part of many customers’ shopping list every week. Gathered from free ranging, pastured flocks on small family farms, these high-quality eggs are delivered fresh to our stores every week.
The original non-profit agricultural group will continue to provide services for farmers in Caswell County, and is a subsidiary of the co-op. Their annual Farm Day connects farmers with extension agents, insurance programs, etc. every year to strengthen the member farms. Now, the for-profit cooperative will market eggs, produce, and proteins. This change recognizes the need to help these farmers to pool resources to be successful.
Since reorganizing, the newly formed board of directors has been busy. Several new farmers are in the process of joining the cooperative. Co-op owned equipment has been moved to a more central location so that all members can use the egg processing equipment more efficiently. Also, representatives from Elon University and Wake Forest University have learned about PPFC and are asking for eggs: spurring additional growth that will benefit the farmers and Weaver St. shoppers with greater and consistent supply!
