FOOD for All Program
As a community-owned grocery co-op, we are committed to making healthy food accessible to everyone in our communities, regardless of income.
Our FOOD for ALL program provides access to co-op ownership, healthy natural food, and shopping experiences where all feel welcome.
To be eligible for a FOOD for ALL owner share, a family member must have an active EBT card (previously known as Food Stamps). This includes recipients of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), and other assistance programs.
FOOD for ALL benefits make shopping at the co-op more affordable for those in our community experiencing food insecurity. On July 5, 2023 our FOOD for ALL benefits are changing to include a 20% discount on all products except for beer and wine. This benefit will replace our Double Produce Dollars incentive.
New 20% Food for All discount provides greater access to healthy food throughout our grocery store. FOOD for ALL owners can—
- Shop for fresh, nutritious foods, including produce, dairy, eggs, grains, meat, poultry, and seafood, as well as a variety of plant-based foods.
- Buy grocery items beyond what EBT covers—from nutritious prepared on our Food Bars to household items, baby products, and health and wellness products.
- Enjoy an inclusive, friendly environment where everyone feels welcome to shop, eat a delicious meal, or gather with friends and family.
With our FOOD for ALL program, the whole community eats better!
How does the 20% Food for All discount work?
Individuals with an active EBT card are eligible for the free FOOD for ALL owner share. FOOD for ALL owners receive a 20% discount on all food and grocery items sold in the store (except beer and wine) when they use their owner number at the register. The discount is applied automatically, and they may choose how to pay for their purchases—with an EBT card or any other form of payment accepted.
Individuals with an active EBT card may set up a FOOD for ALL share at the register or by emailing our Owner Shares team at ownershares@weaverstreetmarket.coop.
What is the FOOD for ALL owner share?
FOOD for ALL participants own a share in the co-op and have the same owner rights and benefits as all our co-op owners, including the right to vote, run in Board elections, and receive weekly owner rewards, owner discounts, and other benefits.
How are we funding the 20% Food for All discount?
We will use our Round Up program to fund the 20% discount, starting with a summer campaign from June through August 2023. We will Round Up again for the FOOD for ALL program in early spring of 2024.
Will we continue to support our Community Food Partners?
Yes, in September, we will begin a Round Up sequence that includes each of our current Community Food Partners. We will also make information available about how shoppers and owners can support our Community Food Partners beyond the Round Up.
We are working with our community partners to share information about the FOOD for ALL program and potential benefits with their members and clients.
