We proudly present our Pride Month promotional fundraising products. Each of these businesses has demonstrated a unique approach to contributing to more diverse and inclusive communities.
JP’s Pastry: The JP’s brand is founded on the idea of inclusiveness. Joe (JP) Parker built a baking business that caters to the needs of folks who need to avoid gluten. He added vegan items as he understood that many bakeries did not offer vegan options for their customers. Making sure that people aren’t left out of the fun is a major focus of the brand. JP and his husband raise their triplets in Raleigh and are consumer owners of Weaver Street Market.
Cool Haus is proud to be an LGBTQIA+ founded company and are honored to support their community in meaningful and fun ways. In celebration of Pride this year, Coolhaus will proudly make a $25,000 donation toward GLAAD’s culture-changing work to accelerate LGBTQ acceptance. In typical Coolhaus fashion, they are also launching a special limited-edition ice cream sammie! Creamy cheesecake ice cream with a sweet strawberry swirl hugged by rainbow sprinkle cookies—a true love story for your tastebuds. Featuring hand-drawn illustrations honoring the fight for LGBTQ rights, we can’t help but to love everything about our Love Out Loud™ sammie. And we hope you do too.
Joe Van Gogh is a Hillsborough-based coffee roaster whose products are well known and loved in Weaver Street Market. In support of Pride Month, Joe Van Gogh is happy to present their Prismatic Blend. A portion of Joe Van Gogh’s proceeds from the sale of this blend will be donated to Equality NC. Joe Van Gogh is proud to support their mission: building LGBTQ+ power through advocacy, education, and uplifting the stories of queer and trans North Carolinians in pursuit of racial and social justice.
Locopops has been a Weaver Street Market destination item for kids and parents every summer. Summer Bicknell landed her paletas (Mexican-style popsicles) business in Durham in 2004 and has been a Weaver Street Market supplier since then. She’s a huge supporter of community needs, events, and fun! We’re excited to include these great items in our celebration.
Open Water is a plastic free bottled water company. They’ve partnered with Weaver Street to help us to eliminate single use plastic water bottles from our stores and became our replacement for a long-established private label water product in 2021. Open Water has given our co-op the best possible pricing to help us to meet our environmental goals and still offer our customers the best prices. The company is woman and LGBT owned, is certified climate neutral, and support causes that contribute to ocean health.
FireFly Farms is a family-owned business operating in northern Appalachia since 2002. Mike Koch, working in housing finance in DC, and his partner Pablo Solanet, a chef, took their first steps toward the dairy business by buying an old farmhouse. During an over two-year renovation, the couple began planning to turn their second home into the center of their second careers. Beginning with a herd of just 30 goats and aging cheese in the stone cellar of their Western Maryland home, FireFly Farms focuses on excellent products made by good people. A grassroots business, FireFly got their start in the Farmers Markets of Washington DC and Baltimore and have organically grown to a place where they can now be found in large nationwide retailers.
Indulgent Essential Spices® are a women-owned and operated, black-owned, LGBTQ+-owned, and veteran lead company.
