1949 Nut Company Peanuts are made using an over 70-year-old, time honored recipe that made Josh Monahan’s grandfather famous. Josh, owner of 1949 Nut Company, says the date in the name is a tribute to his grandfather, Larry Monahan.
In the fall of 1949 Larry, known as Daddy-O, was the owner of a restaurant in Wakefield, VA. When a peanut broker came to him and suggested that the local cash crop, peanuts, which would soon be ready for harvest, could be roasted and sold. Larry developed a recipe to roast the peanuts using a process of soaking the peanuts in hot water before roasting them in oil. The result? A super-crunchy, irresistible peanut that led to Larry opening The Peanut Roaster and changing the snack nut world.
The 1949 Nut Company’s peanuts are an everyday luxury for peanut lovers. Featuring exceptional taste, unrivaled variety, and a remarkably crisp and satisfying crunch.
