Green Llama is a woman-owned waste-free, non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning product company. Their mission is to create home products that do not harm their customers’ health or the environment. Founders, Kay Baker and Dr. Matt Keasey, Ph. D, a husband-and-wife team, are passionate about sustainability.
Kay and Matt have unconventional backgrounds given that Kay is a fully trained and talented occupational therapist while Matt is a neuroscientist. Green Llama is funded by their full-time jobs and both Kay and Matt are good at what they do. However, both are passionate about the environment and together, they wanted to do something about the monstrous volume of single use throw-away plastic. They also questioned the logic of shipping water across the country. Water is heavy and costs energy to move around, so why not just get concentrated ingredients and
use your own water?
Kay and Matt took aim at the plastic spray bottles sitting under their sink and spent a year, beginning July 2020, researching, and developing Green Llama. Green Llama launched at their local farmer’s market in May 2021. They have continued to grow and develop their products to fit the wants and needs of their customers. Kay and Matt plan to create more zero-waste products and continue taking steps to make their company as eco-friendly as possible.
