Hong (“Hongie”) Schulte is from Sichuan Province, China, a region known for rich agriculture, beautiful mountains, and spicy food. Hong met her husband and business partner, Stuart, while they were college students studying in Chongqing in the late 1980s. Together they have lived and worked in China, Arizona, and Ohio, before finally returning to Stuart’s native Moore County, North Carolina in 2007.
Hong has always enjoyed cooking dumplings for friends and family both in China and the USA. This became the idea for her new company, Moore Dumplings.
Hong brings her love for her famous hometown cuisine, such as Mapo Tofu and other Asian flavors, like Japanese curry in her vegan potstickers. Moore Dumplings are a fusion of unique tastes wrapped in a convenient and familiar package. These potstickers are made in small batches and wrapped by hand. Hong says they are best when pan-fried or air-fried but are also delicious boiled and steamed.
Weaver Street Market is excited to bring these unique dumplings to our shelves. Find out more about Moore Dumplings on Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/moore_dumplings/
