Weaver Street Market shoppers want to support local farmers by buying local produce throughout the year, but it’s challenging to grow local produce in Carolina winters. Brett Evans at Red Hawk Farm found a solution—the farm grows organic produce in hoop houses—plastic-covered structures that protect crops from the elements. Red Hawk Farm supplies salad mixes and micro-greens all year, and offers an extended season for tomatoes, basil, and cucumbers.
Previous to purchasing from Red Hawk Farm, Weaver Street Market 
bought salads from California for most of the year. As one of our most popular produce items, we had trouble finding a grower of the scale needed to produce the amount of salad we needed. Brett Evans of Red Hawk Farm approached us in 2015, interested in scaling up his farming operation to grow salad mixes. Over the last six years our partnership has helped Red Hawk Farm grow to what they are today.
