Nellino’s (formerly Nello’s) pasta sauce has been a favorite local product of ours since it hit our shelves in 2011. Neal McTighe crafted the original batch in his kitchen, inspired by the sauce recipe his great-grandmother had brought from southern Italy in 1919.
Now called Nellino’s, the company still makes the same great sauces, including the lavender and thyme flavored Pomodoro, named Southern Living Magazine’s 2016 “Best Tomato Sauce.”
Neal has had other big news in the past year: in addition to rebranding as Nellino’s, he started a new company, the American Pasta Sauce Company, with sauces that have a more classic American flavor. (Read the company’s Constitution and the Declaration of the Three Sauces on their website, http://www.americanpastasauce.com/.)
We’re partnering with Neal to sell the end of his stock of Nello’s. Help us use it up and enjoy some great local sauce–the 14 oz. jar is on sale for $1.99 while supplies last. Our demo team will be sampling it in stores this weekend:
- Friday, June 2, 4-7 in Hillsborough
- Saturday, June 3, 11-2 in Carrboro
- Saturday, June 3, 3-6 in Southern Village
