With February, we began rounding up for PORCH. Each month, PORCH delivers boxes of fresh produce to 400 families in need. And this week, PORCH Hillsborough begins its Food for Families program, delivering food to 25 families.
Each month on the day before the delivery (the second Tuesday), volunteers gather at our Hillsborough Food House with Weaver Street staff to sort all kinds of fresh produce into boxes, ready to deliver to families. We wrap the boxes on pallets and load them into our cooler, where they wait for our drivers to take them the next day. The food sort is fun, and we always welcome new volunteers.
