This year for the first time, Weaver Street Market sponsored a high school student to attend the Cooperative Council of North Carolina’s Cooperative Leadership Camp. The camp is held for a week in June at the NC FFA Center in White Lake and focuses on cooperative education, leadership training, team building, and fun. We sent Corey Pahel-Short, a rising senior at East Chapel Hill High.
The week’s activities included planning a teeshirt cooperative, writing letters to hospitalized children, and building a tower with only markers, tape, apper clips, and paper. Corey discovered that she was the only student sent by a food co-op. Read firsthand about Corey’s week at camp in the 2015 Annual Report.
