Art:K12 is an exhibition program at Weaver Street Market’s Carrboro store, focusing on artwork created by local children and youth. The program began in February 2015. Its initial intention is to offer a public space for viewing visual art created by students in the CHCCS district, as well as local private schools.
The current exhibition features the artwork of students in Michele Nelson’s 4th and 5th grade art classes at Estes Hills Elementary School. Inspired by Aboriginal Dot Paintings of Australia, these thirty two exciting collages feature animals as their subject matter, and use bright colors, dots and stripes as the essential motif.
Pictured here are works by Milo, Lucy, and Nical, and the other 29 collages are great, too. This exhibit is on display through January 3. Be sure to stop by the cafe in our Carrboro store to see it.
