Our Celebration of Co-ops kicks off February 17. For the next month, we’ll highlight products made by co-ops and talk about the difference a co-op makes in a community. Look for the Celebrating Our Partner Co-ops publication in stores, or read it online. (PDF here.) We also have a “Co-ops in our community” poster for kids with activities on the back that you can pick up in stores.
For the next three weekends, our demo team will sample items grown or made by co-ops. Through our direct, co-op to co-op trade, we’re able to bring these products to you at a better price while still paying the producers fairly. We’ll have fun stickers, buttons, and other fun giveaways, as well as a co-op matching game for kids to play. Adults and children alike can go on our “Name that Co-op” scavenger hunt: pick up a form at the demo table, find the answers in our store, and drop the completed form in the raffle box to enter to win a fair trade African basket filled with co-op goods. We’re also having a contest to name the Cabot cow. The demo schedule for March 4 to 6 is here.
For information about becoming an owner, look for an owner drive table during the first two weekend events, staffed by a Weaver Street Market Board member. You can also ask our cashiers about ownership.
The Weaver Race II kicks off Wednesday, but it’s not too late to sign up. Run or walk anywhere, and plot your miles on our virtual course that passes by ten local co-ops. There will be prizes. Learn more.
We hope you’ll stop by to celebrate co-ops!
