Weaver Street Market has openings for consumer owners on two standing committees. The Elections Committee (EC), which oversees the election process, and the Cooperative Community Fund (CCF) Grant Committee, which administers the CCF grant review process, each seek one consumer-owner member.
WSM’s Elections Committee (EC)

The Elections Committee (EC) is a standing committee of consumer and worker owners appointed annually by the Board of Directors. The EC is charged with administering fair and open elections for consumer-owner and worker-owner members of the Board of Directors. The committee has been instrumental in increasing awareness of the Board and its work, and last year initiated online voting for the elections. The committee meets four to five times a year and participates in events related to the elections, including the Co-op Fair.
Quip from Amy Lorang, worker-owner: “The elections committee is the most fun it is possible to have at Weaver Street Market! From breaking into ballot boxes to building an online voting system from scratch, we are a fun-loving, casual, and awesome group of people. Join us!”

Cooperative Community Fund (CCF) Grant Committee
The Cooperative Community Fund (CCF) Grant Committee administers the application and review process for the CCF grant awards. The committee, which is composed of consumer owners and worker owners, meets two to three times in the spring to review the application process, evaluate the grant applications, and select the grant recipients. In 2017 the committee awarded six grants totaling $7,100. The CCF Grant Committee also participates in events related to the CCF, including the Co-op Fair.

Quote from Cait Williams, worker owner: “Food partnerships and the CCF are big parts of what makes our co-op relevant. Working on the CCF committee allows me to work with members of my community, helps me be more in tune with local needs, and gives me a sense of being a part of a community that is creating positive change in the present. Creating dialogue and opportunity for our owners and the community is what makes us different as a co-op. CCF allows our partners to do more, it’s one of many ways we connect and create change.”
