Summer is a coming in and you’ll want the icebox full of ice cream, gelato, and frozen pops to enjoy after dinner on a hot evening. We’ve got local favorites as well as popular national brands, and vegan and dairy-free options, too.
Local Favorites
We love our local producers here at Weaver Street Market. We love showing off farm photos and sitting with beginning producers to give advice and help them get started. Filling our stores with goodies from the community is how Weaver Street Market’s merchandisers fulfill their part of our mission: “…for the community, by the community.”
One of our favorite and long-time local vendors is Maple View Farms. The farm has been in Orange County since 1963, although many generations of the family farmers in Maine before moving south. Different family members and neighbors manage the herd and pastures, run the on-farm bottling operation, do the office work, and give tours at the Maple View Agricultural Center. Maple View also runs their popular country store, with a sunset view of the farm. When you don’t have time for a ride into the country for an ice cream cone, you can pick up a pint of their ice cream from our freezer case.
Other local favorites include pints of Homeland Creamery ice cream and everyone’s favorite paletas, Locopops.
Partnering with local vendors is not always efficient. Customers must be willing to try a new brand, and the vendor must succeed at selling at wholesale prices and quantities. But more times than not, Weaver Street Market and our local producer partners find that selling to the co-op is mutually beneficial, and the cumulative effect of all our efforts has created a local food system.
Dairy-Free Options
For anyone avoiding dairy, or even if you’re not, we carry delicious plant-based frozen desserts. These include
- Tofutti Cuties, the classic sandwiches made with soy milk,
- Coconut Bliss cookie sandwiches, with a coconut milk base,
- So Delicious frozen desserts, including chocolate-dipped bars, made with soy milk, coconut milk, or cashew milk,
- Halo Top coconut-based desserts, with flavors like sea salt caramel and caramel macchiato, and
- Revolution dairy-free gelato.
We also carry sorbet, made with fruit, sugar, and pectin, and Jolly Llama sorbet pops.
