This month’s Curds & Crafts Festival at the Cloth Mill event space will feature hand-made cheeses from 11 cheese-makers and craft beers from 12 NC breweries. You’ll also sample crackers, jams, pickles, and more from eight local artisans. Tickets are available at Eventbrite. Ticket sales have closed.
They are all favorites, but here’s a sample of the offerings:
Feast your eyes on this tasty little gem from Prodigal Farm in Rougemont, NC. Hunkadora (top right) is a delicious, ash-ripened goat’s milk cheese that ripens beautifully.
And check out Snow Camp (bottom right), an amazing, mixed-milk cheese from Goat Lady Dairy in Climax, NC. It ages only two weeks and has lush cream-like and butter flavors that deepen as the cheese ripens.
Meet the good people (and cheese) behind Paradox Farm. It began in 2008 when Sue and Hunter bought a few goats and a llama. Why? They were interested in producing their own food, the local food movement was hitting the area, and they had too much wine one night and decided to buy livestock. In 2014, the unexpected loss of Hunter put Sue in a quandary. Knowing that Hunter had her back, Sue carried on. Cow’s milk cheeses joined the roster in 2016.
The demand for goat’s milk cheese has been on the rise. Are you looking to try new and exciting goat’s milk cheeses? Well, SEVEN of the cheesemakers will have them for you to sample.
The Accidental Baker says their flatbreads are cheese’s best friend. Sea salt and black pepper, rosemary and roasted garlic, and more… Try them for yourself.
It’s Farm to Jar: Two Chicks Farm will be at the festival with their pepper jelly, kraut, and more. These ladies grow most of the vegetables used in their products.
Anybody know what this is? Get your tickets to Curds & Crafts, and come find out! Hint: it involves beer!
