Now you can help keep your event waste free with Orange County Recycling’s “Fork It Over” program.
The county maintains a set of stainless steel utensils donated by the PTA Thrift Store and residents. The set includes 200 of each type plus serving utensils. Anyone in Orange County may borrow the cutlery if they pledge to wash, sort, and return the items after use.
Since the program began in 2015, the Fork It Over utensils have attended 31 events including weddings, conferences, and a benefit dinner. This has saved an estimated 10,000 disposable forks, spoons, and knives.
If you have an event coming up, consider borrowing the Fork It Over utensils to save money and promote reuse! You can read more about the program here (scroll down to the Fork It Over section), or contact OC Solid Waste Management at (919) 968-2788 or recycling@orangecountync.gov.
