It’s summer and the grilling is easy! Try this unique marinade featuring The Republic of Tea Hibiscus Superflower Teas—on sale in our stores right now. Make several batches of this marinade and freeze it in baggies—pull it out, defrost it, and throw in the chicken. It couldn’t be easier! This recipe includes items on sale June 29 through July 5, 2016.
Ingredients:
- 6 Republic of Tea Hibiscus Superflower Tea Pineapple Lychee or Key Lime teabags – Sale $7.99/36 ct. – Save $2.00
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup kosher salt
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 tsp. freshly cracked black pepper
- 6 Freebird Boneless chicken breast – Sale $4.99/lb. – Save $1.50
Directions:
1) Bring 3 cups water to a boil in a heavy, 3-quart saucepan; add tea bags. Remove from heat; cover and steep 7 minutes.
2) Discard tea bags. Stir in sugar, salt, and garlic. Stir until sugar dissolves. Chill. Mixture must be completely cold before
you add the chicken.
3) Place cold tea mixture and chicken in a large container (chicken must be completely submerged) or plastic bag (press out
all air). Place in refrigerator overnight. Remove chicken from marinade, discard marinade; and dry chicken completely.
4) Sprinkle chicken with ground black pepper.
5) Grill, bake, or pan saute chicken until it is cooked through and juices are clear. Serves 6.
