Moonshot Crackers and Patagonia Provisions are joining on a shared mission to save Planet Earth! When Julia Collins, founder of Moonshot, found out that she was going to become a mom, she thought, “How can I create a better world for my tiny human?” It was the beginning of an act of love that spurred the hope that food could help address climate change.
Moonshot did that by creating climate-friendly, carbon-neutral snack crackers using regenerative principles that are good for both you and the planet. Patagonia Provisions was introduced to Moonshot through Plant FWD, Moonshot’s platform that helps other companies build brands that rethink the cycle of food production as an opportunity for regeneration. Patagonia loved Moonshot’s supplier ecosystem, which is built around the concept of shorter supply chains which result in lower emissions from transportation and more traceable ingredients. Moonshot’s wheat is grown on regenerative organic farms just two miles away from the mill where it becomes flour. That mill is about 85 miles from the bakery, which runs on renewable energy, that turns the flour into Moonshot’s crackers. Patagonia and Moonshot felt a shared connection based on love for the planet and for the people who inhabit that planet.
Patagonia Provisions, the food and beverage arm of outdoor outfitter Patagonia, is now carrying the vision forward. Founded by Yvon Chouinard in 2012 and headquartered in Sausalito, CA, Patagonia Provisions offers responsibly sourced food and beverage products. A certified B-Corporation, Patagonia Provisions says they are in business with a mission to save our home planet. Patagonia Provisions looks to reexamine best practices in food sourcing by working with like-minded advocates and producers to find solutions to the important environmental issues facing the food industry today.
Julia says “I founded Moonshot with the vision of using the power of food to help tackle climate change. By joining Patagonia Provisions, who recently made Earth their only shareholder, Moonshot now belongs to the planet. I cannot imagine a more spectacular path forward for our mission, our team and our Climatarian community.”
