Beautiful New York Strip Steaks smothered in local Nello’s Sauce and red wine? Yes please! Both the steak and sauce are on sale this week so try this terrific recipe now.
Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp. olive or avocado oil
- 2 local Weaver Meats Pasture Raised New York Strip Steaks
- Salt & pepper
- 1 large sweet onion, chopped
- 2. cups local Nello’s Marinara Pasta Sauce
- ½ c. Argiano Rosso Toscana
Directions:
1) Heat a heavy, oven safe saute pan over medium-high heat. Add oil to pan.
2) Use paper towels to dry steaks well and then heavily salt and pepper both sides of the steak.
3) Add steaks to the hot pan and sear 30 seconds on each side.
4) Place pan in oven under broiler for 2 minutes. Flip steak and place back under broiler for 2 more minutes. You should now have a medium rare steak. Remove steak from pan and set aside. Reserve 1 Tbsp of the drippings from the pan and wipe out pan.
5) Add reserved drippings back to the pan, add onions, and saute over medium heat. Saute until translucent.
6) Add Nello’s Sauce and wine to the pan. Bring to a low boil and continue to cook until sauce has thickened and wine has reduced.
7) Add steaks back to pan, reduce heat to low, allow steaks to rewarm in sauce for about 2 minutes. This should give you a medium steak. Allow steak to rest for about 3 minutes. Serve steaks topped with sauce. Serves two to four.
