One of the best differences about shopping at Weaver Street Market is that our purchasing department acts as our shoppers’ buying agent in finding products that are better for you and for the planet. This is especially true when it comes to our seafood selection. You won’t find fish that have been raised with hormones and antibiotics on our shelves, or endangered or over-fished species. You will find a rotating offering of fresh seafood from the NC coast, plus a large selection of flash-frozen fish from sustainable fisheries in the US and around the world. Here are some of our vendor partners that bring our most popular items:
Locals Seafood– Based in Raleigh, Locals Seafood curates a selection of fresh seafood from small-scale NC fishermen. They deliver fresh catch to our stores on Wednesdays and Fridays, from Black Sea Bass to Yellowfin Tuna.
Sena Sea– A family-owned fishery in Washington, Sena Sea catches Sockeye, Coho, and King salmon on the Copper River and Prince William Sound in Alaska. The salmon (as well as black Cod, rockfish, and more) is frozen immediately after harvest, right on the boat. Quick-freezing technology allows the seafood to maintain its peak quality all the way to the point of thawing and allows us to have a year-round supply.
Riverence Provisions– An Aquaculture Stewardship Council certified trout farm in Idaho, Riverence Provisions provides us with mild and tender farm-raised Steelhead trout. Riverence steelhead are fed a diet that’s full of antioxidants that make the fish stronger, while providing a myriad of positive effects to humans that consume them. Astaxanthin is a natural micronutrient found in wild salmon and trout diets that supports mental function, improves eyesight, skin health, and heart health.
