Weaver Street Market owners are now eligible to join Coastal Federal Credit Union. Coastal has a new branch in Carrboro, a block from our store on East Main Street.
Not familiar with Coastal Federal Credit Union? According to MyCreditUnion.gov, “Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve their members. Like banks, credit unions accept deposits, make loans and provide a wide array of other financial services. But as member-owned and cooperative institutions, credit unions provide a safe place to save and borrow at reasonable rates.” Because credit unions do not pay profits to outside stockholders, earnings are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher dividends on deposits, and lower fees. Credit unions cannot be sold because the members are the owners.
Coastal is one of our local credit unions, based in Raleigh and serving North Carolina since 1967, with a mission “to help our members with a lifetime of financial solutions one experience at a time.”
Previously, membership was available only to employees of Coastal’s business partners, the immediate family of members, and members of certain nonprofits. Membership is now available to all owners of Weaver Street Market!
