This morning, Errol loaded nine pallets of food onto our delivery truck and distributed them to five local elementary schools. The pallets contained food for 360 kids for the two weeks of winter break: staples like cereal and peanut butter, pancake mix, and fresh fruits and vegetables like apples and sweet potatoes. The students will also receive coupons for free eggs and butter. We purchased all the food at cost with money donated through the Round Up! campaign.
Each school has a plan to sort the food, which will go home with students from food insecure families today or tomorrow, to provide for them over the winter break.
We were delighted to meet various teachers and school staff who’d be helping with the effort. We want to once again thank everyone who supports our Round Up! campaign to alleviate hunger in our community.
