Starting May 1, Round Up! donations will benefit the children of TABLE and the Orange County Schools (OCS).
For the last three summers, the Weaver Street Market community has donated funds to provide healthy food for all of TABLE’s summer backpack meals. These meals help school children have enough to eat during the summer, when school meals are not available. Last year, we also collected funds for students in OCS to receive food over winter break and spring break. Volunteers at each school sorted and boxed the food for delivery.

With this community support, TABLE has been able to extend its summer program from 7 to 10 weeks, and increase the number of kids from 350 to 525 this summer. Our goal this summer is to provide backpack meals for 525 TABLE kids for the 10 weeks of summer! OCS provided boxes of healthy food, including fresh vegetables and fruit, eggs, and butter, for 384 food insecure kids at six elementary schools. This summer we hope to raise enough to provide food for 600 OCS kids for the 2018-19 school year.

For every $150 rounded up for TABLE in our Carrboro and Southern Village stores, we’ll cover one child’s weekend meals for the entire summer. Every $150 round up in Hillsborough covers one child’s meals and snacks for the school year.
