- 2 large tomatoes
- 1 large ball of fresh mozzarella (ovolini), or 8-10 smaller balls (ciliengini)
- 6-8 leaves fresh basil
- olive oil
- Slice tomatoes and mozzarella in 1/4 inch slices.
- Make a pile of the basil leaves and cut into thin strips.
- Stack tomato and mozzarella slices, alternating. They can be tall stacks or spread out on the plates.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Serve immediately. Serves 2.
