Through our Special Delivery program, we bring in small-batch, artisan cheeses a couple of times a month. We bring in a limited amount of these amazing cheeses and sell them at a crazy-good price. When they’re gone, they’re gone, but not to worry, there’ll be something else on the way. Be sure to stop by our cheese counters to find out what Special Delivery we’ve received lately.
This month’s Special Delivery Cheese is from Baetje Farms in Bloomsdale, Missouri, a French-inspired artisan goat cheese dairy and creamery. Steve and Veronica Baetje produce cheese all year round and have received much recognition through awards and a feature in the November 3, 2015, New York Times. Making cheese since 2007, their focus is on small batch, hand-crafted artisan cheese. Production is limited, so we are thrilled to receive a small number of the very special Coeur du Clos this week.
Coeur du Clos is a camembert-inspired, sheep and goats’ milk blended cheese. It has fresh, clean flavors with only a hint of mushrooms and earth and a lovely creamy mouthfeel. As it ages the edges inside the rind turn soft and liquidy and the rind bursts with mushroomy flavors. It is absolutely delicious, and it won’t last long, so come in and get yourself some!
