Relax this Labor Day, we’ve got you covered! Our house-made dips and spreads are ready to go, straight from the Grab & Go case to your picnic table. We’ll make the dips, and give you time to focus on what’s important to you, whether it’s being the Grill Master, perfecting a special new recipe for your cookout, or building a creative party experience for your guests.
Quality Ingredients
First a note about quality: Our dips and spreads are all handcrafted by people (that’s right, not automated machinery), and the quality can’t be beat.
Take our guacamole, for example. While many of our competitors use frozen avocado pulp to save money, our recipe uses only fresh, ripe avocados. Remember my “In search of a better hummus” blog from last year? As we tested hummus recipes, we sought out the highest quality ingredients to bring you a better product. And our pimento cheeses use only Cabot cheddar. Need I say more?
Menu Ideas for Dips and Spreads
As a starter. Grab any of our dips and spreads as an easy appetizer to serve as you cook out. Serve with a box of local flatbreads from the Accidental Baker or slices of our own delicious rustic or sourdough bread. For a heightened flavor, grill the bread slices ahead of time.
Alongside a traditional burger and hot dog bar. Add our delicious pimento cheese or spinach artichoke dip to your buffet as an accompaniment. Or smear your favorite spread on the bottom bun, add your burger or hot dog, and top with condiments. Our bakery makes soft, flavorful burger and hot dog buns.
With alternative proteins. If hot dogs and hamburgers aren’t your favorites, why not grill another type of protein, like tofu, fish, or chicken? Then pair it with a suitable dip or spread, such as a grilled chicken breast served on a spot of hummus with some chopped olive spread as garnish. How about pan roasting a piece of fish or marinated tofu and garnishing it with creamy guacamole and our simply salsa?
As a table centerpiece. Jump outside the box and create your own mezze platter. Start with all our hummus varieties. Add some tabbouleh. Swing by the specialty department for some marinated gigante beans, mixed olives, and stuffed grape leaves. Peruse the salad bar for a sampling of marinated feta and tzatziki sauce. Add a variety of cut fresh vegetables like broccoli, zucchini, carrots, and peppers. Round it all up with some warm pita wedges.
There are endless ways to feed and entertain your guests this Labor Day weekend. You could stick with a traditional cookout or add some out of the box thinking and get creative. Think about creating the experience you want your guests to have and the ideas for food will follow. Whatever food you prepare on Labor Day, remember that you always have options. Let Weaver Street Market help you make the selection for your holiday. And remember, if you burn anything on the grill, Julia Child always said, “No matter what happens in the kitchen, never apologize.”
