Walter Carol, the Export Director from La Riojana Winery, visited us last week and did some training sessions with our staff. La Riojana is our newest wine producer and is a fair trade cooperative. Staff learned about the winery’s family grape growers, the fair trade initiatives that have been possible due to sales at British co-ops, and what La Riojana hopes to accomplish with its sales in the United States. Walter also explained how it is possible to sell the wines so cheaply, while still paying a fair trade price for grapes and a fair trade premium. Watch the training session in the video below.
