We’ve surpassed our goal in the PORCH “Bag of Groceries” campaign. Shoppers and employees have donated almost $38,000, enough to provide produce and eggs to the original 100 PORCH families for 12 months AND to add 5 new families. For every 12 bags of produce donated now, PORCH can add 1 additional family for a year.
We received this note from Debbie Horwitz, the director of PORCH’s Food for Families program, about the ongoing campaign:
We are all so grateful … We are currently increasing our numbers of families served, and we’ll be shifting some of our Monday families to Wednesday so that we can benefit from the packing and delivery process that Weaver Street Market provides … We hope to be increasing our numbers from 320 to 350 families this spring, which is a big undertaking. This partnership is indeed allowing us to grow without needing to rent space or change our process. Thanks for making my day!
A $30 donation provides a bag of 35 to 40 pounds of fresh vegetables and fruits valued at $60. Half-bag and quarter-bag donations are also available for $15 and $7.50.
There are two days left to donate. Look for dislays in our stores, or ask any cashier. And thanks to everyone who has participated in making this campaign a tremendous success!
