Each month a group of volunteers gathers to sort 3,500 to 4,000 pounds of fresh produce into boxes for the 110 Burmese and Karin refugee families served by PORCH’s Food for Families program. We need more volunteers to help us with this important work—staff and community members are welcome.
The next produce sorts are:
Tuesday, 1/26, Food House, 4:30 to 6:00 pm
Tuesday, 2/23, Food House, 4:30 to 6:00 pm
Tuesday, 3/22, Food House, 4:30 to 6:00 pm
Update: the January sort has been cancelled due to the weather. (Food that was not delivered over the snowy weekend will be used.)
Our next campaign for PORCH is coming in March. Volunteering is a great opportunity to experience first-hand the results of our Community Food Partnership campaigns and the satisfaction of helping us get fresh fruits and vegetables to those in need.
Volunteers at the PORCH sort qualify for our Volunteer Rewards raffle. Last month’s raffle winners won $25 WSM gift cards. This month winners will receive Riojana wine gift packs.
