Win a case of wine! At each upcoming wine show, we’ll sell raffle tickets for $5. Win, and you can fill a case with your favorites from the Fall Wine Sale.
The raffle is sponsored by one of our local credit unions, Coastal Federal Credit Union, and all the proceeds go to our Cooperative Community Fund (CCF) to support grants for community projects that focus on access to healthy food. In addition to providing the prizes, Coastal will match all the funds raised up to $1000. We have the fastest growing CCF of all participating co-ops across the country.
Not familiar with Coastal Federal Credit Union? According to MyCreditUnion.gov, “Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve their members. Like banks, credit unions accept deposits, make loans and provide a wide array of other financial services. But as member-owned and cooperative institutions, credit unions provide a safe place to save and borrow at reasonable rates.” Because credit unions do not pay profits to outside stockholders, earnings are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher dividends on deposits, and lower fees. Credit unions cannot be sold because the members are the owners.
Coastal is one of our local credit unions, based in Raleigh and serving North Carolina since 1967, with a mission “to help our members with a lifetime of financial solutions one experience at a time.” A new branch has recently opened on East Main Street in Carrboro.
Who is eligible to join Coastal? Membership is available to employees of Coastal’s business partners, the immediate family of members, and members of certain nonprofits. Membership is now available to all owners of Weaver Street Market! Coastal will be open on Saturday during the wine show and offering fun incentives to new members.
