Nothing says “I love you” like a crusty French baguette–unless it’s a French baguette twisted into a heart shape! Every year, our bread bakers shape heart baguettes for Valentine’s Day. This year, they’ll be available on February 13 and 14. Get one before they sell out!

New this year is a chocolate cherry bread. It’s made with the dough of our sourdough, with plenty of sweet-tart cherries and chunks of dark chocolate. It’s delicious without being sinfully so. The chocolate cherry bread is in stores now and will continue through Valentine’s Day, and probably longer. Bakery manager Rob shared these suggestions for eating the bread.

And finally, there’s our miche… Big, bold, and sour, this wheat and rye bread is the traditional country loaf of France. No, we’re not shaping it like a heart. We’ll be stenciling some of the loaves with cocoa powder–look for them on display in our stores on Sunday the 12th and on Valentine’s Day.
We make our handcrafted bread with organic flours from Lindley Mills in Graham, North Carolina, and from Carolina Ground Flour Mill in Asheville. We don’t use preservatives and we bake our bread daily. The use of preferments provides longer fermentation times that allow flavors to develop.
