We now source bottled water from Old Saratoga, Inc., a family-owned company in Saratoga, NC. The water is bottled under the brand names White Oak Water and Natural Alkaline Water.
The company draws its water from the Black Creek Aquifer, located in the coastal plains of North Carolina; their office is at the north side of the aquifer, east of Raleigh. The aquifer is composed of fine sand; water is replenished from the surface. Carbon dating showed that the deeper waters have been untouched for 400 to 26,000 years!
When producing bottled water, Old Saratoga’s staff tests the source every hour for criteria including pH level, mineral concentration, and taste. The types of water they produce include spring water (the water reaches the surface on its own), distilled water (the water is boiled to a vapor to remove minerals), and alkaline water (the water has a pH level greater than neutral).
The company touts these benefits of alkaline water: It contains antioxidants in liquid form that quickly absorb into the body. The water cleanses the body’s organs, especially the colon, and makes the body less susceptible to stomach viruses, flus, colds, and other common illnesses. It is good for the skin, for healthy weight loss, and for easing muscle and joint discomfort. Read more here.
